Sadie Dabbs (Canyon West): You're never to old to learn to play golf. I borrowed a set of clubs from our youngest daughter and had my husband show me how to swing them. I headed for a little 9 hole golf course as if I knew how to play. October 4, 2000 was my first game. What a fun day and I have been having fun ever since. Made my first eagle the first year. I have made 3 hole-in-ones. There is a saying: "If a lady will tell her age she will tell anything". I am happy to tell you I was 69 when I began and will be celebrating 7 years of a very enjoyable game called golf. Fellowship, meeting and making friends and having fun is what I enjoy the most about the game. I am excited about the Canyon West WGA and the opportunity to meet and play golf with some fun loving ladies who also enjoy the game. ciddabbs@sbcglobal.net

Ann Foote (Canyon West): A few words from Ann- coming soon!

Jan Giroux (Ft. Worth Ladies): I started to play in 1998 at the age of 61. I always liked to watch the game, and then I started to hack around a little par three course in Lake Worth called Casino Beach. Met a few golfers that I still play with, and hope to bring to Canyon West. I was off in 1999, due to illness and in the summer of 2000, I joined Fort Worth Ladies, I've been playing with them ever since and am now the President. I love to play the game and hope to have a hole in one some day, was close 3 times. I'm not a great golfer and probably will never be, but I hope to break 90 this year came close to that too 3 times. Oh Well ! The best thing about the game are the neat people that I have met, and I'm still meeting.

Carole Ann Heninton: A few words from Lynn - coming soon!

Kris Hemler (Canyon West): I started my golf obsession in 2001 while attending a family event. During this first introduction to golf I played with a 5 iron the entire round (I quickly discovered it was the only club I could make contact with). When I successfully navigated every water hazard (and there were many) I was HOOKED! Within 3 months I had my first hole-in-one.

California's Oakdale Golf and Country Club became a second home to me until 2006 when my husband and I relocated to Weatherford. I am excited about the Canyon West WGA and the prospect of forming new friendships built around a shared passion for golf. krishemler@judgefite.com

Diane Johnson (Glen Garden):Took up golf when I was close to 50, but not by choice. A friend wanted to join an after-work golf league and needed a partner. I had never even picked up a club and suddenly I was thrashing away on a golf course once a week after work and quickly found it a TERRIFIC stress reliever – even if I regularly hit the ground rather than that small white immobile dimpled ball. This was in upstate New York, so when November came howling in I realized I missed the game as we endured the long winter and the golf courses were covered in fluffy white stuff. I was hooked.

I'm not a great golfer, but I have improved and I enjoy meeting new people through the sport since I moved to Texas in 1996. I credit the game of golf with providing me camaraderie, laughs, and – most importantly – some exceptionally close friends who have provided immeasurable support while I am so far from my family

Pat Jones (Canyon West): Pat has promised a little write up soon!
